Want to have coffee?

I would love to know what you are doing in your library, where you think libraries are going and library-types of places I could visit.

I am lucky enough to be taking a Big Family Holiday at the end of the year.Β It is mainly just being mum and wife and enjoying my family’s company, so it is not work … BUT…

If you read this blog, want to talk library, have ideas of library places to visit or would like to catch up and are in or near:

  • London
  • Paris
  • Barcelona
  • Orlando, Florida
  • Washington DC
  • New York City
  • SanFrancisco

– let’s do it.

Please feel free to add suggested places to visit in the comments below, or if you want to have coffee then drop me an email: kathryn dot greenhill at gmail dot com , and let’s arrange something.

  1. OMG! I have just booked tickets for my family’s “World Tour 2012” (that’s what I’m calling it!). We are also visiting London, Paris and Orlando, Florida. So I’d love to hear how you go finding some library related people to chat with πŸ™‚

  2. So beautiful- a pity that you don’t come to Holland otherwise I’d love to drink coffee with you

  3. Loads of library people at the British Library which is a MUST not just for you but all the family. Awesome things to see including the King’s Library http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/findhelprestype/prbooks/georgeiiicoll/george3kingslibrary.html
Loads to see and do in London – when you coming?

  4. If you happen to fly via Amsterdam, Schiphol Airport we could meet in our Airport Library… Talk about our library maybe?

  5. Fiona – looks like the King’s Library Tower in the British Library is on the cards. (thank you Hazel). I am not sure that I will have much to report about the library life in Orlando … but I would be happy to be surprised …

I was sooooo tempted to come to the Netherlands. If it was just me and my husband we would have definitely done so, but the kids wanted to spend more time in England (and one wants to do a day tour to Stonehenge…) so we ended up doing that. Our round-the-world ticket does not let us fly through Schipol πŸ™

Hazel, we arrive in London on Sunday 20 November and are there for about a week.

  6. Hi,

maybe I can get the boys (Erik & Jaap) to join me and meet you in Paris πŸ™‚ Would love to have coffee (tea) with you and talk!

  7. Oooh. I would LOVE that. We get there on 28 Nov and then leave early on 3 Dec. All weekdays, but I’d be IN πŸ™‚

  8. Too bad it’s not a KY Horse Trip! I’d love to meet you in person!

  9. I’m in the Washington DC area and would love to meet up with you. Of course in DC the big library here that is open isn’t really a lending library that one would search but it is worth a view: The Library of Congress as well as the National Archives.
I have to say that in my little neck of the woods that used to be Los Angeles and is now Washington DC suburbs we have some nice little lending libraries with great extensive collections for young readers. My favorite is that many of the books my soon to be 5 year old looks for in our local library are in the stacks with the grown up books.

My guess is the world tour that includes Orlando includes a visit to Disney?! If so report back if they have a library! πŸ™‚
